"Nisha Chanelle"

Tenisha "Nisha Chanelle" Butler, the 33-year-old mother of two boys (14 yrs old and 20 months), was murdered by her estranged husband on January 6, 2024, leaving work with co-workers.

Tenisha endured physical, mental, and emotional abuse for over a year.  She finally left and moved in a different county closer to family to get her and her kids away from him. During this time, the husband found out where she lived, placed trackers on her car, and bum-rushed himself into her place, taking her phone and laptop on multiple occasions.  Stalking her kids at school as well as her at night with threats.

Several attempts were made to obtain a protective order, which was denied. Finally, in October, because he placed a tracking device on her vehicle without permission, the judge granted the protective order. In November, Tenisha decided to uproot herself and her kids again, finding a new place and new employment to ensure their safety.

She had placed a block on his calls, texts, and emails.  Things were going well—no sign of him. No stalking. Nothing. During a court hearing for the protective order, her husband placed another tracker on her vehicle while parked in the court's garage.   Tenisha reported this to the police when she attempted to get an arrest warrant for violating the protective order, but it was denied. The judge stated, " How do you know he put the tracking device on your vehicle?  Now he knows exactly where she lives and works. Tenisha still tried to go on with her life with caution, and things seemed to be going great until that night she left work, and he was waiting there to shoot her.
